The 75th Annual Golden Globes Recap

The 2018 Golden Globes took place last night, and Oprah came out the winner….

Much of the award show was inspired by the #Metoo movement. Celebrities that attended the event wore black and ‘Time’s Up’ pins in support of an initiative launched last week to fight workplace harassment.

Seth Meyers hosted the award show and had a pretty “salty” opening speech addressing the big issues in Hollywood – and the world – right now. This included jokes about Harvey Weinstein, a woman not being the host and Donald Trump.

As for the awards, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri took home four awards including “best motion picture drama”, while the TV series “Big Little Lies” dominated the TV categories with four awards as well.

Although we are super happy for the winners, we think Oprah Winfrey stole the entire show! She was honoured with the Cecil B. DeMille Award and gave emotional, powerful speech that gathered multiple standing ovations from the audience and blew up on social media. Oprah expressed during her acceptance speech her thoughts on racial injustice, sexual abuse, and attacks on the press.

If you can be anyone, be Oprah Winfrey.
