A little food for thought in case you have a first date scheduled for the weekend: A 37-year-old man is suing his date for texting while they watched ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Volume Two’ in 3D. He’s asking the court to award him $17.31, the cost of her movie ticket – plus $4 for pizza. His reason? He says he was forced to endure what he’s calling the ‘date from hell’.
The two met online, and they were on their first – and probably last – date. The guy claims the woman checked her phone 10 to 20 times in 15 minutes to read and send text messages. In her defence, the 35-year-old woman says she was comforting a friend who’d had a fight with her boyfriend. She says the phone volume was on ‘low’ and she wasn’t bothering anyone. He notes that the theatre has a no-texting policy.
I suppose none of those texts were about her Guardian of the Policy.
Now the CEO of the cinema chain is actually offering the man a $17.31 gift certificate to settle the lawsuit, “to save the time of the courts.”
