Lawsuit Claims Snapchat CEO Said App Was ‘Only for Rich People’

Snap CEO Evan Spiegel is being sued by Anthony Pompliano, an ex-employee, on the grounds that he believes the company has tweaked data and misled advertisers.  According to Pompliano, during a conversation about expanding into untapped markets, Spiegel scoffed saying that Snapchat is “only for rich people” and that he “didn’t want to expand to poor countries like India or Spain”. These comments have caused the Guardian to call it a “PR nightmare” in India, and is using hashtags such as #UninstallSnapchat and #BoycottSnapchat. A spokesperson for Snapchat is calling these claims “ridiculous” and states that “Snapchat is for everyone! It’s available for download worldwide, and for free.” I’m sure this fiasco will be over in a snap- how would we survive without the Dog Filter?
