A Montreal suburb, Hampstead, has a new bylaw that bans all smoking in public places!
On Monday, Hampstead council accepted legislation that prohibits tobacco or marijuana smoking on municipal property. This includes sidewalks and streets! The bylaw does not prohibit electronic cigarettes or smoking in cars in the town.
The plan is to have the new law in effect within a week or so.
People seem happy about the new law 😉 …
Congratulations Hampstead on your smoking ban. Possible you could now get drivers to take up stopping @ Stop Signs #Arrêt

The Canadian Cancer Society says that Hampstead, Que., will be the first municipality in Canada to do this!
Those who violate the new law will face fines from $250 for a first-time offense to $500 for repeat offenders.
