Are you the type of person who grabs the Atomic Fireball instead of the lame, regular gumball? Pepsi’s newest flavor is right up your alley. Your taste buds are about to get burned out of your mouth, because Pepsi just launched a cinnamon-flavored cola called Pepsi Fire.
It won’t be available in the US until May 22 (and only as a limited-edition run for an eight-week period), but cans of Pepsi Fire have already hit shelves in Thailand, Mexico, the Philippines, Vietnam, and a few other countries. There hasn’t been a formal announcement of when Canadians should prepare our palates for this spicy cola, but signs are pointing to a post-trial return to the US late this year. By then perhaps we’ll all have forgotten about a certain commercial that was drowned in sizzling backlash.
In the rivalry with Coca-Cola, Pepsi has introduced (and then re-introduced) Crystal Pepsi and a slew of other flavored colas over the years, including: Pepsi Wild Cherry, Pepsi Holiday Spice, Pepsi Mojito, Pepsi Strawberry Burst, and now Pepsi Fire.
Does the world need a cinnamon-based soda? What do you think of the decision to give the cola a name like “Fire”? That sounds downright terrifying.
…but like we do when we find any gimmicky new soda, we’ll be first in line to try it when it finally arrives.
