Selena Gomez’s ‘Revival’ Follow-up Is ‘Next Level,’ Says Her Label

Selena Gomez is about to change the game, according to her label.

Interscope head John Janick and vice chairman Steve Berman gave a lengthy interview to Hits Daily Double about how they’ve found success despite the proliferation of online streaming. Among other things, they cite good-ol’ artist development, if not just allowing signees time to fine-tune their voices — the “Hands to Myself” singer being a good example.

“… Selena—I think we’ve only scratched the surface with her,” John says. “When I signed her, she wanted to figure out how to transition to a more mature sound, and her last album [Revival] was the biggest she’s ever had. But the next one, from what music we have already, blows away what she did before. There was some great music on the last album and big hits with ‘Good for You’ and ‘Same Old Love.’ But the music she’s making now is next-level.”
