UPDATE: Alek Minassian appeared in court this morning and has been charged; 10 counts of first degree murder and 13 counts of attempted murder in yesterday’s van attack in Toronto..
Yesterday afternoon a horrid van attack occurred in Toronto. The incident happened on Yonge Street, between Sheppard and Finch Avenues, where a man driving a white rental van struck pedestrians, leaving 10 dead, and 15 hospitalized.
The story is still developing; however, here is what we know so far…
Alek Minassian, 25, has been arrested and expected to appear in court this morning. He is a resident of the Toronto suburb of Richmond Hill, and was not known to police.

One of the 10 people killed in Monday’s attack has been identified as Anne-Marie D’Amico
The investigation will include trying to understand what prompted someone to turn a rental van into a weapon.
