Jonathan Meikle and Matthew Shorting, the two men who helped another Winnipeg Transit passenger who was being harassed with racial slurs and threatened with a knife back in November of 2018, have been honoured with the Royal Canadian Humane Association Bravery Award. This Award is given to everyday Canadians who display heroic deeds. During the intervention, Meikele was stabbed in the leg but both Meikle and Shorting managed to subdue the assailant until police arrived.
