The Western Hockey League announced that the Kootenay Ice is moving to Winnipeg!
Currently the hockey team plays out of Cranbrook, B.C, but they are coming to the city and will be known as Winnipeg Ice!
The franchise began in 1996 as the Edmonton Ice, and then moved to Cranbrook where the Kootenay Ice was formed in 1998.
The Ice have won one Memorial Cup and three WHL championships in their 22-year history.
Winnipeg will be home to NHL team, an AHL team, and a WHL team as of next season.
