Temperatures are getting VERY cold, and the city needs your help.
Winnipeggers are being asked to call 911 immediately if they see anyone who needs help or is injured due to the extreme cold.
We want people to stay safe, so we need to work together to make sure no one is left in the cold.
If you witness this, call 911 to report the condition of the person, and their location. The city is also asking if possible, those who call to stay with the person until emergency crews arrive.
Take necessary precautions during periods of extreme cold temperatures. Public facilities that can provide a comfortable place to warm up include City Hall, Winnipeg Public Libraries, swimming pools, and Leisure Centres. https://t.co/RE73p1jgaX pic.twitter.com/W9kpyoXw5w

Here are some tips to stay safe in the cold from the City of Winnipeg:
Older adults and very young children should avoid prolonged outdoor exposure.
Check on older friends, relatives, and neighbours who live alone.
Recognize the symptoms of hypothermia: confusion, dizziness, exhaustion and severe shivering. If these symptoms are present, seek immediate medical attention. Severe hypothermia can be life threatening.
Bring pets inside and limit the amount of time they spend outside.
