While we have gotten some snow and below 0 temperatures… it’s definitely not safe to be going for a skate, or walking on the little bit of ice that there is.
While rescue services say they never recommend skating or being out on the ice formed in retention ponds… they especially don’t right now! 17 calls were placed to 911 over the weekend for people who went out on the ice.
“Crews responded to these incidents but were not required to perform any rescues and there were no injuries reported.” Spokesperson, Kristin Cuma said.
A friendly reminder to also keep your pets on leashes just incase they see a bird or something on the water and try to chase it and wind up getting stuck in the water themselves.
