It’s official “Famous Players” inside Kildonan Place is closed.
This is in anticipation of the new theatre opening very soon.
Famous Players opened on November 17, 1989. This was one of the last of the colourful Famous Players multiplex designs from the late-1980’s/early-1990’s with its “street scene” style cinemas featuring large decorative neon signage above each entrance.
That’s a wrap on Famous Players – the theatre is now closed.
We’ll have news on Cineplex Junxion’s opening date VERY SOON. (We promise.) pic.twitter.com/e6W8gz1VoF

There was a mech gaming cupboard there that you could use two joysticks to roam a 3d environment, and it even had double tap mechanics to dash, and you would spread the joysticks to jump and pull joysticks inwards to crouch/evade.
and it was a lot of people’s first kiss place… So i hear…or have heard… and i still just want to kiss those gaming rigs against the walls before the lit neon entrances at the rear of the lobby. there arent many games with that sort of controls anymore, even with the joysticks and controllers we have now with all their fancy shoulder on the rear of the xbox elite and ps5.
