It was unanimously approved last fall by the House of Commons, this June is officially Filipino Heritage Month. Filipino-Canadians are the fastest growing ethnic population in Canada with over 85,000 and growing.
Filipinos began arriving to Winnipeg in the 1960’s, many coming to work in the medical field and continued in the 70’s and 80’s mainly occupying Winnipeg’s huge garment industry
The Manitoba Filipino Street Festival will be held this weekend.
