Spike Lee is taking on a new version of “Romeo and Juliet”!
This movie will be an adaptation of Ron Wimberly’s graphic novel that’s an ‘80s hip-hop retelling of ‘Romeo & Juliet’.
The movie is titled “Prince of Cats” and set in the 1980’s! This new version will have a “hip-hop twist” with the Montague and Capulet families in a hip hop world! There will be “DJing, emceeing, breakdancing and graffiti.”
“The film centers on Tybalt and his Capulet brothers, who navigate Da People’s Republic of Brooklyn, where underground sword duelling — including katanas — with the rival Montagues blossoms into a vibrant world. That world includes [all the] hip-hop essentials.”
VERY INTRESTING!
There have been many versions of Romeo and Juliet so lets hope this one goes well!
